"Blackjack" is a jazz album by American trumpeter Donald Byrd, released in 1968 on Blue Note Records. The album features Byrd's regular quintet, consisting of Pepper Adams on baritone saxophone, Duke Pearson on piano, Laymon Jackson on bass, and Lex Humphries on drums, with Herbie Hancock substituting on piano for Pearson on two tracks. The album was recorded in the same year as Byrd's hit album "Fancy Free" and features a similar fusion of jazz and funk styles. The title track "Blackjack" became a popular tune among jazz musicians and was later recorded by other artists, including Freddie Hubbard and Johnny Lytle. The album is often highlighted as a prime example of Byrd's work during the peak of his career in the late 1960s.
